This 3-hour comprehensive training will provide pharmacists with tools to identify people at risk of suicide and intervene to prevent suicide. Dr. Shelley Chambers will discuss suicide and psychiatric illnesses to simplify suicide prevention into something every pharmacy professional can do. This training is intended to fulfil the 3-hour training required of Washington State licensed pharmacists, but is applicable to all pharmacy professionals.

Suicide Awareness and Referral for Pharmacy Professionals

At the completion of this activity, the pharmacist and technician will be able to:

  • Recognize suicide’s impact in communities
  • Describe pharmacy professionals role in suicide prevention
  • Education all patients to make home safer
  • Prevent suicide professionally and personally using the LEARN steps

Registration is open until March 12th. This training was designed for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians but is also approved for other professionals who require a 3-hour course. Professions who require a 6-hour course can’t receive partial credit or mix and match, so this course would not work for them.

 

$75 for WSPA members, $125 for non-members

  Presenter: Shelley Chambers, BPharm., Ph.D., CDE, Pharmacist, Retired

Shelley graduated from the Washington State University College of Pharmacy. She taught pharmaceutics and compounding at WSU and for many years took students for early practice experiences at her consulting practice in skilled nursing facilities. When the College moved to Spokane, Shelley worked in a 340b clinic in Moscow, Idaho as a pharmacist and certified diabetes educator. She now tends the small farm that she shares with her husband.

 

To Earn CE Credit

To receive CE credit you must sign in on the sign in sheet provided by completing all required fields. You must also complete a meeting evaluation to be given to the speaker at the end of the meeting. The meeting evaluation as well as your NABP e-profile ID and birth date (MMDD) are required by the WSPA in order to receive CE credit.

 

The Washington State Pharmacy Association has a maximum of 60 days from the date of the activity to upload the CPE information to the CPE Monitor. WSPA will upload the CE within 3-4 weeks of the event. It is your responsibility to check the CPE Monitor before the 60 day period has expired to make sure the CE is uploaded in your profile. If there are any problems you will need to contact WSPA 425-228-7171 before the 60 day time period has passed.
