We are thrilled to be partnering with the ATA Professionals Abroad in organizing the logistics for our visit Cuba on a professional exchange. As a delegate, you will have the opportunity to meet with your Cuban counterparts to learn about to learn about the challenges and advances in pharmacy practice and education at all levels in Cuba through professional meetings and daily site visits. This tour will be led by the Professor of Pharmacy and Global Health and Adjunct Professor of Epidemiology and Health Services, and Director of the Global Medicines Program, University of Washington (UW), Dr. Andy Stergachis and the Director of Practice Development for the Washington State Pharmacy Association, Dr. Jenny Arnold.


Travelers will be staying in Cuba’s finest hotel, Sol Melia Cohiba, as they discover the unique healthcare model of Cuba.

You will visit the Cuban Ministry of Health, the National Center for Medical Science Information, Havana Medical School and several pharmacies and clinics. In addition, delegates will meet with leaders from the Center for State Control of Drugs and Medical Devices (CECMED), Municipal Home Pharmacy Network, and the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the People. Additional Information

Travelers will have the opportunity to participate in professional meetings and meaningful site visits each day. Our trip is designed to will cover these objectives: 

1. Evaluate the overall structure of the healthcare model in Cuba and the role of pharmacy in this structure;

2. List the priorities for public health in the next few years;

3. Explain pharmaceutical distribution through the community health structure;

4. Describe the advances and research developed in Cuba as a result of the US Embargo;

5. Describe the Cuban pharmacy and medical education system.


The program cost per delegation member is $4,895 (Guests $3,695) based off double room occupancy. This cost includes essentially all costs associated with participation, except for air travel to and from Cuba. 
Program cost includes: 
· Group transportation in Havana
· Accommodations at the Sol Melia Cohiba Hotel, Havana
· 5 Breakfasts, 4 Lunches, 4 Dinners
· Professional meeting fees
· All entrance fees for cultural orientation visits
· Cuban Visa and required Cuban health insurance

-There is an additional fee of $215 for 16.5 hours of CPE
