Pharmacy Diversion Awareness Conference
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will be hosting a regional one-day Pharmacy Diversion Awareness Conference (PDAC) on Saturday, August 8 and Sunday, August 9, 2015. The conferences will be held at the Redmond Marriott Town Center, 7401 164th Avenue Northeast, Redmond, WA 98052.
The diversion of pharmaceutical controlled substances throughout the United States is a growing problem. This diversion stems from various sources. In addition to pharmacy robberies and thefts, pharmaceutical controlled substances are often diverted by way of forged prescriptions, doctor shoppers, or illegitimate prescriptions from rogue practitioners. The PDAC is designed to assist pharmacy personnel in identifying and preventing diversion activity.
Each one-day conference is open to pharmacy personnel (pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, or loss prevention personnel) who are employed by pharmacies or hospitals/clinics that are registered with DEA in the state of Washington.
Upon completion of the one-day conference, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians will be eligible to earn up to 7 continuing pharmacy education (CPE) credits.
There is no registration fee for these conferences. However, attendees will be responsible for their own transportation, lodging, and meal expenses. Information about nearby restaurants will be provided at the conference.
Each one-day conference will be held in the Grand Ballroom, from 8:30a.m. to 5:00p.m. You must check in with DEA personnel before the start of the conference. Conference check-in will be from 7:30a.m. to 8:30a.m. each day outside the Grand Ballroom.
Seating is limited at these conferences, and it is recommended you register as early as possible.
