Summary
With the newest classes of drugs to treat diabetes patients, pharmacists need to be sure they are aware of all the advantages, as well as the precautions and warnings that come with the newest additions to the treatment of diabetes. This activity includes the most current information available about these medications as well as new treatment regimens that could include these new classes of drugs.

Objectives:
1. List four new medications that control blood glucose.
2. List three advantages of the new diabetes medications.
3. Discuss three precautions to be aware of with the new diabetes medications.
4. Name three effective regimens for patients using these new medications.

The American College of Apothecaries (ACA) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. ACA has accredited this program for 1.0 contact hours (0.1 CEU's) of continuing education credit for pharmacists and technicians. This program has been assigned: ACPE UAN 0201-0000-15-134-L01-P and 0201-0000-15-134-L01-T.
