They also have fiber that is sold as a product that brings a very good financial yield. Alpacas are prone to certain diseases and are more sensitive to many drugs. We will review these during the presentation. The knowledge should assist the pharmacist and pharmacy technician in more information for dispensing alpacas medications.

    Review the Anatomy and Physiology of the Alpacas
    Describe the differences in Alpacas and Llamas
    Describe the Oral Absorption of Medications in Alpacas
    Outline the Toxicity of Drugs in Alpacas

Presenter: Dr. Sue Hudson Duran, RPh, MS, PhD, FSVHP, DICVP
Dr. Duran has been a clinical pharmacist at Auburn University veterinary college since 1975 and currently serves as a Professor in the Department of Clinical Science and Adjunct Associate Clinical Professor at Harrison School of Pharmacy. She has a pharmacy degree from Auburn University, and completed an internship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in clinical pharmacy where she was the Director of the Intravenous Admixture Department for 2 years. She completed a Master in Pharmacology and Veterinary.
