Washington State lawmakers must support reforms to Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) practices
 Vote in support SHB 2296!

Washington State pharmacists and patients have been feeling the impacts of Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) for years. Through shady business practices, these medicine middlemen increase prescription drug costs and make doing business for local pharmacies difficult through “claw back” and “gag” order provisions.

With the skyrocketing prices of prescription drugs and high health care premium deductibles, the Washington State Pharmacy Association (WSPA) and its members are urging Olympia policymakers to support reforms to PBM practices by voting in support of SHB 2296.

Additionally, we’ve heard about a number of organizations across the state and country in support of this legislation, to include: the Alliance for Transparent and Affordable PrescriptionsArthritis FoundationOne in Four Chronic HealthNational Psoriasis Foundation, and the Snohomish County NAACP.

We’ve also heard from our members directly on how PBM’s impact their businesses. Read (here) what the Ellensburg Downtown Pharmacy sent to its customers earlier this year.

Now is the time to reform PBM practices. Doing so will only help Washingtonians afford prescriptions they need and make ends meet to keep their local pharmacies running.
