Module 2 - Financial Position: Getting Your Arms Around the Numbers (Part 1)

4. Appreciate the dynamic relationships that exist between the balance sheet and income statement.
5. Create a “scorecard” for a business using ratios and pharmacy industry benchmarks, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and areas of opportunity.

Module 3 - Financial Position: Getting Your Arms Around the Numbers (Part 2)

5. Create goals and action plans to implement positive changes within the organization.
6. Enhance relationships and ability to communicate with bankers and other financing partners.

Module 4 - Price - Volume - Costs: Using Break-Even to Grow Profits

Module 5 - Cash Flow: How to Prevent Your Cash from Going South When Your Sales Head North

Module 6 - Financial Gap Analysis: Managing Growth

Participants will be able to:
1. Identify the four sources of capital available to fund the growth of a pharmacy business.
2. Demonstrate the effect of increased inventory turns in terms of growth capital required.
3. Identify the primary "driver" of asset increases in an expanding pharmacy.
4. Explain the relationship between the P & L and the balance sheet in a growth situation.
5. Describe the impacts of profits in financing growth.
6. Identify the financial consequences of management efficiency (or inefficiency) in a growing pharmacy.

Module 7 - Financing Properly and Planning for Transition

Participants will be able to:
1. Use financial analysis techniques to create an adequate picture of the past (financial statements), the present (break-even) and the future (cash budgeting and financial gap).
2. Determine their pharmacy’s financing need.
3. Identify what lenders and investors look for in a loan request.
4. Know what the happens during the loan approval process.
5. Learn how to find resources for transition planning and business valuation.

The complete course carries 17 credit hours or 1.7 CEU's. To receive credit, participants must complete the post-module exam online with a score of 70% or above and the evaluation at the end of the module. Participants will receive a statement of credit by mail from WSPA within one month of passing the exam.
