Dr. Elizabeth J. Beckman, PharmD, BCPS, BCPPS, BCCCP will conduct a 1-hour knowledge-based continuing education webinar program on organ donor management in pediatric patients. She will discuss the entire process from identification of an organ donor, optimization of donor organ function and viability until the time of organ donation.

Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1) Differentiate between the two pathways in which pediatric patients may become organ donors
2) Identify the physiologic changes after brain death and cardiac death
3) Recommend an evidence-based management strategy to optimize function and viability of donor organs after declaration of death
4) Recognize the role of a pediatric pharmacist in donor medication management

The Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. In order to receive credit, participants must register for the program, attend the program, and fill out a post-program survey. Webinar programs are 100% supported through program registration fees and PPAG membership dues, and is not supported by Industry.

Dr. Elizabeth Beckman, PharmD, BCPS, BCPPS, BCCCP
Dr. Elizabeth Beckman, PharmD, BCPS, BCPPS, BCCCP is a Clinical Knowledge Management Analyst at UK HealthCare in Lexington, Kentucky. She is responsible for the provision, implementation, and curation of clinical practice guidelines for the UK Enterprise. Previously, she practiced as a pediatric ICU clinical specialist at University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health. Her research, publications, and presentations encompass topics such as antimicrobial drug optimization, pain and sedation management, and drug pharmacokinetics in extracorporeal devices. She has authored and reviewed content for medical and pharmacy board recertification products through the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) and American College of Clinical Pharmacy. She is currently serving as member of the Board of Pharmacy Specialties Pediatric Specialty Council and is the past-chair of the SCCM Item Writing Committee, Pediatrics. Dr. Beckman received her PharmD from Butler University, completed a PGY1 and PGY2 Pediatrics pharmacy residency at Indiana University Health, and is board certified in pharmacotherapy, pediatrics, and critical care pharmacy.
