PQAC Law Update

At the completion of this program, the pharmacist and technician will be able to:

Describe the role and responsibility of the Pharmacy Commission and Department of Health in the regulation of pharmacy practice.

Describe how to apply new laws and rules to pharmacy practice, including new changes to pharmacy inspections

Identify the Commission’s agenda for new and updated areas of practice regulation and current projects for law and rule change.

State how to put patient safety and pharmacy care first while adhering to pharmacy law

Recall the pharmacy practitioners’ responsibilities for new and updated regulations including how to apply professional judgement in assessing and protecting patient care and safety.

This program will discuss application of new laws and regulations. Topics will include background on the Commission and rule-making process, proposed legislation, the Rules re-write process, as well as how to be involved in the process.  Also, this program will discuss the new process for pharmacy inspections, including self-inspection, development of a plan of correction based on inspection findings and appeal of an inspection.

Identify pharmacotherapy regarding treatments for SUD

Describe transition of care issues for patients with SUD

Substance use disorders are a reality in every community and walk of life. In this interactive session we will dispel myths and gather truths in treatments for our patients, kith and kin.

List common signs and symptoms of GAD

State the role of CBT in the treatment of GAD

Identify whether a drug is an SSRI or an SNRI and list common side effects

Identify 1st line therapy versus 2nd line therapy for treatment of GAD

State a timeline for response to therapy and the importance of adherence and monitoring

 

Suicide Prevention Basics

Discuss suicide impact and facts

Integrate Safer Homes messaging into daily patient interactions

Apply LEARN™ suicide prevention skills professionally and personally

 

This CE will provide technicians with tools to identify people at risk of suicide.

 

CE Requirement – Secret Codes and Online Evaluation

At the end of each CE presentation, you will be provided with a secret code. To receive PQAC credit for the activity, you will need to sign in and write the secret codes on the evaluation form for each CE activity you attend. WSPA will sign the statement of credit and send you a copy for your records within 3-4 weeks.
