This conference is designed to familiarize health care providers with care options for patients nearing end-of-life, thereby improving the quality of life. The conference will help enhance effective means of communication end-of-life issues with patients and families, and to identify transition points from one point of care to another.

At the completion of this activity, the pharmacist will be able to: Overall objectives for the conference

  • Identify and implement principle of Respect for Patient Autonomy and its correlate of Informed Consent through compassionate discussion of diagnosis and prognosis, as well as differentiation between treatment and cure.
  • Clarify for the whole team, the role, the boundaries, and the responsibilities for physician, so patient can make best choices.
  • Assist patient in living best lives, by not only managing symptoms and mitigating suffering (although these will be included), but in focusing on holistic elements of life.
  • Emphasize pain management and end-of-life care using didactic and experiential content, as a primary goal for palliative care and hospice programs.
  • Share success of the first palliative care pharmacy residency program, and demystify opioid conversions calculations, as well as effective dosing for palliative and end-of-life patients.
To Receive Credit:

Pharmacist will receive a total of 5.5 ACPE CPE hours and must attend the full day to receive credit, no partial credit will be issued. In order to receive credit, the pharmacist must sign in, turn in a completed evaluation at the end of the day and provide their correct NABP e-Profile ID number and birth month and day (MMDD). WSPA will upload your CE to the CPE Monitor within 3-4 weeks and will send you an email once it has been completed. It will be your responsibility to check your CPE Monitor to confirm that the CE is showing properly.

WSPA only has 60 days from the date of the event to upload the CE so if there are any problems please contact them before the 60 days at
