This year's Bowl of Hygeia award was posthumously given to R. Keith Campbell's son, Lance Campbell, by John Oftebro and Linda Garrelts MacLean at this past weekend's memorial service.

R. Keith Campbell was one of the most well-known and recognized pharmacists in the country. Over the course of his career, he spent 45 years at the WSU College of Pharmacy, published over 1000 articles, chapters and books, presented globally 1700 times, served on numerous boards, won countless prestigious awards, pioneered advanced pharmacist-provided care for patients with diabetes, and he was a national radio talk show host. The Bowl of Hygeia recognizes a pharmacist who has provided outstanding community service over the course of their career. Our award winner developed and served an impressive community that stretches around the globe. His service to his community propelled student pharmacists into the profession and helped them pick themselves up when they stumble. He provided mentorship and guidance for faculty colleagues to hone their craft, and he has cemented a role for pharmacists caring for patients with diabetes. He stated that his greatest joy was advising, teaching, mentoring and befriending students and young faculty.

Thank you for allowing us to share in recognizing the accomplishments of a deserving recipient and one who epitomizes the principles of community service for which this award was developed.

If you were here, Keith, we would be thanking you for all you have done for the profession and congratulating you as the newest and a most deserving member of WSPA’s Bowl of Hygeia Award Recipient “family”.
