New Inspection Process for Pharmacies Coming March 1, 2018.

The Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission is excited to inform you that a new process for pharmacy inspections will begin March 1, 2018.


This new inspection process will promote the continual improvement of pharmacy practice for better patient outcomes. The inspection process will no longer use a point system for deficiencies. The process now starts with a self-inspection completed by the pharmacy every year in March and when there is a new responsible manager. The questions on the self-inspection form focus on patient safety issues and may change over time.

When The Pharmacy Commission Investigator arrives they will review your self-inspection as part of their inspection process.If deficiencies are noted, you will receive an Inspection Report noting Deficiencies, also known as a Statement of Deficiency, within 14 days. If you receive an Inspection Report noting Deficiencies, you then have options on what your next steps will be.

The Pharmacy Commission wants a process that will help pharmacies continuously improve in meeting patient safety and pharmacy care services regulations.
