Purpose Statement

The WSPA Ambulatory Care Academy (ACA) serves leaders, pharmacists, learners and technicians involved in ambulatory clinic direct patient care and practice management. The ACA is committed to providing networking, collaboration and professional development opportunities for its members while prioritizing practice transformation within Washington state.

Ambulatory Care Academy Meetings

ACA Meeting are scheduled twice a year. Check the WSPA calendar for dates. 


Complete the ASHP Ambulatory Care Assessment Tool

The WSPA Ambulatory Care Academy encourages all Washington Ambulatory pharmacists to complete the ASHP Ambulatory Care  Practice Assessment Tool. We will reporting out the data on a state level. It is essential that many Washington locations enter their data to allow for us to benchmark against other innovative peers in our state. Assessment Survey: 


ASHP Practice Advancement Initiative 

The ASHP Practice Advancement Initiative supports an AmCare Self Assessment and AmCare Reccomendations. Based on Washington self assessment results and subsequent discussion at ACA meetings the following resources were developed to support practice initiatives. 


Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician Resources This resource discusses technician scope of practice, collected together key resources for technician expanded practice and advanced practice. 


Transitions of Care Best Practices This resources summarizes best practices and literature to support pharmacist driven transition of care programs. 


Pharmacists Billing for Patient Care Services The WSPA has developed an overview, training, and a guide to getting started as a billing provider.

ASHP does not classify PGY1 residencies as having an ambulatory care focus. PGY1 classifications include Pharmacy, Managed Care and Community.
