Independent Pharmacy Academy

The mission of the Independent Pharmacy Academy (formerly the Pharmacy Owners Academy) is to advocate for and sustain independent pharmacy within the profession. We will accomplish our mission by providing a forum to share innovative and entrepreneurial practices, develop business skills necessary to manage and operate a pharmacy, and advocate for public policy supportive of independent pharmacy practice . Our events will be fun, informative and relevant to independent pharmacy owners and staff, as well as future owners . We will share best practices, new business concepts, how members have become successful and demonstrate the personal and professional satisfaction of pharmacy ownership.

Independent Pharmacy Academy Monthly Calls

The WSPA Independent Pharmacy Call will be the second Tuesday of the month at 7:45 am. These calls will be a chance to discuss challenges and opportunities with your peers. The agenda for the meeting will be generated by pharmacy owners, and open dialogue among owners will be the foundation of the call.

Pharmacy Services Survey

Please respond to the WSPA Pharmacy Service Survey. This survey will gather timely information on COVID-19 specific services, and your usual services as well. WSPA will share the information with the pharmacy community and public health partners through the WSPA PharMap

Protecting Patient Access to Care Provided in Pharmacies
Defending Reimbursement Rates
Pharmacy Audit Reform
Patient Choice of Pharmacy

WSPA Workers' Compensation Premium Refund Program (RETRO)

A claim has the potential to cost your business over 70% more in workers’ compensation premiums paid to Labor & Industries, if not managed properly.

  • The WSPA Retro program is a free service for WSPA pharmacy business members which helps you keep your L&I premium rate from increasing. There are NO PROGRAM FEES to be in the Retro program.

  • In the event one of your employees files a claim, professional claims management services will be provided by ERNwest at no cost to you.  They will act on your company’s behalf to return your injured employee to work as soon as possible. This includes assisting in return to work efforts, Stay at Work financial incentive program, and continuing to advocate to keep claim costs low.
