New Drugs New Laws 2018 is the perfect way to stay current and tune up your medication and legal knowledge. This meeting focuses on the new medications approved over the last year, and also provides a comprehensive review of new and old laws and regulations that impact pharmacy practice. These activities are designed for all pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians in any practice settings and will provide eight CPE hours, including six hours of law CE. Terri Levien will start the day with an analysis of the New Drugs and REMS in 2018. The rest of the morning will include the Pharmacy Quality Insurance Commission staff, Steven Saxe leading a discussion of the new laws, new rules and rules re-write and then finishing with and Gordon MacDonald discussing the new Pharmacy Inspection process being rolled out in 2018. The new inspection process will herald in a culture shift around inspections, and include a mandatory self-inspection of pharmacies.

The afternoon will start with pharmacy law professors William Fassett and Tom Hazlet reviewing current legal issues impacting the practice of pharmacy. In Seattle we will have Jennifer Wilson-Norton and Tanya Karwaki assisting with the discussion. In Spokane we will also have Julie Akers contributing her knowledge to the discussion. The afternoon will conclude with group case discussions to apply and discuss the information presented earlier in the day. This annual education is essential for pharmacy practitioners in all settings.
