National Standardized Examination for Pharmacy Technician Certification in WA

Since January 1, 2009, applicants for first-time pharmacy technician (PT) credential have new requirements. The Board of Pharmacy adopted rules to require PT applicants to pass a board-approved national standardized exam. Individuals issued a pharmacy technician credential before 2009 will not need to meet the new standards. All PT applicants will still need to complete a pharmacy technician training program approved by the board.

Pharmacy Technician exam(s) accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) meets the new exam prerequisite for credentialing in Washington State.
